Folk/Pop Songstress @MeganBurtt – RockTheWorldRadio Recap

RocktheWorld with LinkedIn

Listen to the May 28, 2012 show!

RocktheWorld with LinkedInMegan believes that everyone needs music, and she wants to play for anyone who will listen.

In our fifth Monday style we hosted an awesome musical guest this week, Megan Burtt. Lori and Megan initially met on Twitter, and Lori realized that Megan was everywhere on social media! It was awesome!

We started talking about how Megan had gotten her start on social media. She said that Facebook became big when she was in college. She was actually quite hesitant about jumping in, and was the last one of her friends to make a profile. She then realized that this is where everyone is, so she dove in, and even just created a Pinterest account!

Megan believes that everyone needs music, and she wants to play for anyone who will listen. She believes you really have to put yourself out there and see who responds, so that is her technique on LinkedIn and other platforms.

She is also from the Denver area so she and I had some fun reminiscing about some of the popular music venues in town, like Red Rocks and the Mercury Cafe. We also spoke about some of the awesome experiences she has had playing in different festivals and competitions. One of her favorites was playing at the Rocky Mountain Bluegrass Festival. She had grown up with the festival and it was an amazing experience to be up on stage performing at it.

Megan told us that she had gotten started young as a musician. She used to enjoy doing cartwheels and singing “Part of Your World” from the Little Mermaid. She also had dreams of being Pocahontas.

Now her dreams are a bit more realistic. She has created some amazing music that we hope you will listen to. Her YouTube channel has an amazing song and video called Habit. The video was created by one of her friends following her and her band around during a one month tour and piecing the footage together into a montage. She also has a new album out for sale It Aint Love that you should check out.

We had a great conversation and covered topics all over the spectrum. You should definitely go back and take a listen if you want to hear how musicians can also integrate LinkedIn to their careers.
