#EntryLevelTweet 63: Connect with former employers and coworkers on LinkedIn and ask them for recommendations where applicable.

Christine M Ruff

When you have put together the perfect LinkedIn profile – or at least your best version - then you can start making connections. An easy way to begin is to ask employers, coworkers, colleagues, and friends. This includes former and current associates. Once you are connected, you will want to ask for recommendations. Your references can write a single letter of recommendation on LinkedIn that can be seen by everyone (if you set the privacy settings to show them). In addition, you are able to approve a recommendation or ask your reference to edit it slightly. If you have to ask your reference to change their recommendation more than once or twice, then it might be a good idea to delete it and ask for another person to be a reference for you.
